Temasek Polytechnic has acquired a SkyHawk fighter aircraft as a teaching aid. Students who take the Diploma in Aerospace Engineering or Diploma in Aerospace Electronics will have a chance to study, first hand, the intricate
mechanisms, engine and aircraft accessories as part of their course. The SKyHawk arrived at Temasek Polytechnic on 12 Oct 2005.
The Aerospace industry in Singapore, with $6.9 billion in annual output (in 2007), is one of the nation's fastest growing sectors, and promises bright prospects and exciting job opportunities in the civil aviation, aerospace and aeronautical industries, as well as the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). Temasek Poly is the only Polytechnic in Singapore to offer its unique Aerospace diploma programmes that gives direct credits to students who wish to get the professional Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) certification later on. This effectively shortens the time that students need to get the AML certification. Temasek Poly is also the first (and currently the only) polytechnic which is offering an aerospace training curriculum that is approved and accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) under the new SAR-66 standard.
The TEMASEK Aerospace PROGRAMME
