Greenwave Environmental Competition 2007
A unique project by 3 Temasek Engineering School students earned a Commendation Award in the Greenwave Environmental Competition 2007. The project, "Socially-Optimsed Bus", is a special device which can be installed into twin-seats on buses to compel a person sitting on the outer seat to move to the inner seat, so as to allow another passenger to take the outer seat. This helps to optimise space, particularly in crowded buses. The competition attracted 278 entries from students of primary & sec schools, JCs, ITEs and tertiary institutions. The students received their prize ($500) at a presentation ceremony on 22 Jan 2008.

Three students from Temasek Engineering School clinched a Commendation Award in the Greenwave Environmental Competition 2006.
Their invention, the "Paper Multiplier", converts used paper into hand towels, without going through the conventional paper recycling process of pulping.
The conversion is done by specially textured rollers that are geared to rotate in opposite directions. By turning the handle clockwise, a single sheet of A4 paper is passed between the rollers, making it wrinkled and perforated, and hence highly absorbent.
The competition was held on 12 Oct 2006, and the students received their prize ($500) at a ceremony on 30 Jan 2007.
