TP is currently working closely with LTT to train its students in accordance with the new SAR-66 standards during their 3-year course in TP, covering a major portion of the required basic trainng.
This means that Aerospace students from Temasek Engineering School can get their AML much sooner after graduating from TP, compared to students who take other related diploma courses.
LTT's qualified instructors will be conducting the training for students undergoing the specialised aerospace training course.
Referring to the establishment of the LTT Training Centre at TP, the polytechnic’s Principal & CEO, Mr Boo Kheng Hua said: “Together with LTT, we will develop the Training Centre in Temasek Polytechnic into a premier education and training centre, producing top quality licensed aircraft engineers to support and fuel the growth of the aviation and aerospace industry in Singapore and the region.”
Sharing this sentiment, Mr Christoph Meyerrose, Managing Director,
Lufthansa Technical Training, Germany, commented: “Lufthansa Technical Training is proud to partner with TP, and is eager to offer its experience-driven courses to the entire Singaporean and regional aviation industry from its new home on the TP campus.”
Mr Lim Kim Choon, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), said, “Given the buoyant aviation scene, we have seen the emergence of budget carriers as well as the impending introduction of the new Airbus 380 aircraft by various airlines. This exponential growth must be supported by skilled aircraft engineers and technicians. In this regard, we are pleased that Temasek Polytechnic and Germany’s Lufthansa Technical Training have integrated their expertise and resources to offer an aircraft maintenance training programme in Singapore. This programme, which meets the CAAS's latest maintenance personnel licensing standards, aims to produce competent professionals to meet the dynamic needs of the aviation industry. We are confident that students who graduate from this training programme will be sought after by the aviation industry."
Supporting the TP-LTT tie-up, Mr Manohar Khiatani, Assistant Managing Director, Singapore Economic Development Board said: “The global aerospace outlook continues to be positive, with Asia Pacific being one of the leading growth regions. Given our reputation as an aerospace hub, Singapore is well-positioned to tap on the opportunities arising from this strong growth. The availability of well trained manpower is critical for the growth of our aerospace industry. We therefore welcome the partnership between Temasek Polytechnic and Lufthansa Technical Training to offer an integrated Aerospace diploma training programme. This initiative will not only enhance Singapore's manpower capabilities to meet the needs of the local aerospace industry, but also strengthens our position as a regional training campus for the aerospace industry."
