The Materials Science & Engineering Challenge (MSE-IMRE) is an annual nation-wide event organized by Materials Science and Engineering Club (MSE) of NTU, and sponsored by the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE). The competition aims to create the awareness of the importance of Materials Science and Engineering among JC and tertiary students, and professionals in the industry. The areas of Materials Science and Engineering include field such as Polymers, Biomaterials, Manufacturing processes, Microelectronics, Ceramics, Semiconductors and Microelectronics.
The competition comprises a written test (50 MCQ questions) and an oral round, in which participants answer questions from 6 categories of topics, with marks awarded based on the level of difficulty of the questions.

Materials Science & Engineering Challenge 2008 Temasek Engineering School improved on its performance at the annual Materials Science & Engineering Challenge, dethroning S'pore Poly to clinch the Gold medal in the competition held on 27 Feb 2008.

Materials Science & Engineering Challenge 2007 Temasek Engineering School students won the 2nd and 3rd prizes in the Materials Science & Engineering Challenge 2007, held on 1 March 2007. The competition comprises a written test (50 MCQ questions) and an oral round, in which participants answer questions from 6 categories of topics, with marks awarded based on the level of difficulty of the questions. The Temasek Engineering School students, who are from the Diploma in Mechatronics and Diploma in Microelectioncs, were taking part in the competition for the first time. |
