Singapore Space Challenge 2008
Temasek Polytechnic has won the first-ever Singapore Space Challenge, launched in 2008. The competition this year focuses on the conceptualising of a design for a Martian Transport, capable of ferrying payload around planet Mars. This transport has to meet certain range, payload, costs and propulsion specifications.
The team from Temasek Engineering School, comprising 6 students from the Diploma in Aviation Management & Services, devised a space craft called the Martian Research Transport Craft (MRTC).
The competition was held from 1 Jul 2007 to 15 Jan 2008, and results were announced in Feb 2008.
As part of the prize, the project students were given a booth to exhibit their design concept at the Singapore Airshow 2008, held from 19 to 24 Feb 2008.
