THE FUN AND EASY WAY

The Temasek Engineering School has signed MOU with WAPworkz Technologies Pte Ltd for use of WAP-Bean as a teaching tool.

In an effort to further enhance the teaching of wireless technology to a new generation of Infocommunications students, the Temasek Engineering School and WAPworkz Technologies Pte Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the use WAP-Bean, a product by WAPworkz that enables the easy creation of WAP pages.

Under the terms of the MOU, WAPworkz will licence the School to use WAP-Bean in its WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) and web deployment curriculum. WAPworkz will also provide ideas for related student projects as well as wireless industry input to the Temasek Engineering School. TP is also expected to organise competitions jointly with WAPworkz to promote creative application designs and deployment.

Said Mrs Lay-Tan Siok Lie, Director of the Temasek Engineering School: "WAPBean will enable us to make an impactful introduction to WAP technology to our students. The Temasek Engineering School looks forward to such strategic industry partnerships, especially in emerging technologies, as these will keep the students close to industry practice and developments."

This joint cooperation is the first of its kind for WAPworkz and an Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) in Singapore. With the increasing adoption and proliferation of WAP usage, WAP-Bean will give Temasek Engineering School students the opportunity to explore and learn the fundamentals of WAP technology.

The MOU was signed by Mrs Lay-Tan Siok Lie and the Chairman of WAPWorkz Technologies Pte Ltd, Mr NG Hock Ching, at the Engineering Directorate Conference Room on 6 July 2001.
