The World Skills Singapore is an biennial competition organised by the ITE. The competition symbolises the pinnacle of excellence in vocational training. Every two years, hundreds of young skilled people, accompanied by their teachers and trainers, convene from around the world to compete before the public in the skills of their various trades and test themselves against demanding international standards. The winners of the national round will proceed to represent Singapore at the international level

| Temasek Polytechnic earned 1 Gold and 2 Silver Awards in the World Skills Singapore (WSS) Competition 2006. The Gold came in the Industrial Electronics category, from final year Diploma in Electronics student, Luo Enyu. Luo Enyu will go on to represent Singapore in the international World Skills competition to be held in Japan in Nov 2007 -- the first Temasek Engineering School student to do so. The Silver medals came from Ng Quan Li & Chan Bin Yang Daniel (Mechatronics category), and Jian Hai Long & Wee Junhan Kendrick (Robotics category). The students received their awards at a ceremony held at on 20 July 2006.

Temasek Polytechnic, represented by Ong Zeng Hao and Lee Li Quan, from the Diploma in Mechatronics, captured a Silver Award in the Mechatronics category of the biennial WorldSkills Singapore (WSS) competition held from 1 – 3 July 2004. Two other Engineering students, Ng Han Cai Albert and Lee Jian Wei Nicholas, also won a Diploma in Excellence for their effort.
Participants are required to assemble and program a factory automation system comprising mechanical, electronic, electrical, and pneumatic equipment based on diagrams and instructions provided, as quickly and accurately as possible. The competition, which aims to raise the standards of excellence in technical skills, this year attracted a record 310 participants from secondary schools, junior colleges, tertiary institutions and companies in the industry. The students received their awards at a ceremony held at the ITE Headquarters on 8 July 2004.
