What is Robo Grand Prix?

Robo Grand Prix (RoboGP) is a competition in which mobile robots race in a given course to determine which robot clocks the fastest single lap time. The course pattern is not known prior to the commencement of the race. Rules will be based on the Japan Robotrace Competition Rules.

How does Robo Grand Prix benefit participants?

History of the Robo Grand Prix Competition

Preparatory training workshops for secondary schools are usually held before a competition.
The first such workshop was conducted on 18--20 June 2002.
This culiminated in a Mini Competition held on 27 June 2002.

The competition went national in Sep 2002.
The first Nationwide Robo Grand Prix (2002) was held on 3 & 4 Sep 2002 at the Great World City atrium,
attracting more than 40 teams from about 30 institutions.

The second Nationwide Robo Grand Prix (2003), held on 5 & 6 Feb 2003 saw participation surging
to 80 teams from about 50 institutions.

The Robo Grand Prix will be a bi-annual event, with one national competition and one mini competition held each year.
There are plans to take the competition regional in the near future, focusing on the high level competition held annually in Tokyo, Japan.
